Using spellcheck software has limitations because they will not catch mistakes that a human eye will. For instance, spellcheck software may not identify correctly spelt words which are incorrectly used, like “mousse” instead of “moose”, “fiend” instead of “friend”, “beard” instead of “bread”, or “patients” instead of “patience”. Spellcheck software may not fix an incorrectly used apostrophe, e.g. “my dog’s toy” has a different meaning from “my dogs’ toy”. The first refers to one dog, the second refers to more than one dog. Spellcheck software may not highlight that you have completely omitted a word from a sentence.
