Sharon B- Distance Learning Law Student

School can be scary. Thankfully, Menesa made it a lot less scary by ensuring that my essay was amazing. She pointed out my writing errors and made helpful suggestions which improved the clarity, readability, and flow of my work. Menesa also explained why the changes needed to be made, which was extremely useful.

Taylor F- Distance Learning Law & Political Science Student

Menesa is brilliant to work with. As a homeschooler herself, she understands how to help your child learn from their writing errors. I submitted my son’s story and Menesa made some helpful and insightful suggestions for improvement. She also picked up on punctuation, spelling, and grammatical errors which we had missed. I would recommend her services to all parents who want their child’s writing and English to improve.

Diana W – Homeschooling Parent

I just want to thank you ever so much for doing a wonderful job. As a homeschooling parent, things can get overwhelming fast. It helps to have someone like you I can turn to for help in an area that I’m not too confident in teaching. Please contact me if you ever need a recommendation because I’d be happy to recommend you highly.

Yasmin F- Homschooler

I love that Menesa takes the time to understand my needs. She ensures client satisfaction throughout the process. This is seen by her professionalism and the polished final document she produces. Menesa’s the secret weapon in your academic success arsenal.

Thank you for your patience and understanding of my situation. You really helped me get out of a tight spot and helped me see my writing mistakes. Now, I can avoid making the same mistakes, thanks to you, Menesa!

Frequently Asked Questions

Isn’t using spellcheck software to proof my document enough?

Using spellcheck software has limitations because they will not catch mistakes that a human eye will. For instance, spellcheck software may not identify correctly spelt words which are incorrectly used, like “mousse” instead of “moose”, “fiend” instead of “friend”, “beard” instead of “bread”, or “patients” instead of “patience”. Spellcheck software may not fix an incorrectly used apostrophe, e.g. “my dog’s toy” has a different meaning from “my dogs’ toy”. The first refers to one dog, the second refers to more than one dog. Spellcheck software may not highlight that you have completely omitted a word from a sentence.

What’s the difference between copyediting and proofreading?

A copyeditor identifies and corrects the following errors:

  • Basic fact-checking (correct names, dates, etc.)
  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Spelling
  • Usage and style (usually based on a specific style guide, like OSCOLA.

Like a copyeditor, a proofreader searches for typos and misplaced punctuation. The proofreader also searches for issues like consistent headings, page numbering, bad line or page breaks, placement of tables of figures in the text, and more.

What if I don’t agree with your editing?

When required, I explain my suggestions and or corrections, so you understand the reasoning behind the changes. If you have a preferred style sheet, I’m happy to adhere to it. You have the authority to determine if you will accept my suggestions and or corrections.

How much does it cost?

To begin, please refer to my pricing guide above on this proofreading page. In short, the cost depends on the length and complexity of your document. These factors determine how much time will need to be invested in the proofreading and/editing process. However, seeing a sample of your document and your specifications enables me to give you a more concrete quotation. My goal is to listen carefully to your requirements and then to provide you with prompt, professional service.

How will I know what changes were made?

Frequently, I work in Microsoft Word using the track changes function. The track changes function allows you to view my amendments/suggestions to your document. You can then choose to accept or reject the amendments. This saves you time having to make the changes yourself. If required, my amendments also indicate the reasoning behind them. This ensures you know why the change is necessary.

How do I submit my document(s) to you?

Work may be confidentially submitted digitally via email or the submission form above on this proofreading page. Using digital submissions ensures:

  • Immediate delivery,
  • Safety during the pandemic,
  • Removes the inconvenience of posting and printing costs.
How long does it take for me to get my document back?

This depends on the length and complexity of your document. After reviewing your document and discussing your needs with you, I can give a better estimation regarding a time frame for completion. A document that requires minimal proofreading/editing will be returned promptly. A more complex document requiring greater levels of proofreading/editing will take longer to return.
